Joe Rogan blasted MSNBC for “deceptive editing” of a clip that made it appear the popular podcaster was praising Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris — when in fact it was praising former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.
The host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” kicked off his show Tuesday by dismissing a rumor circulating online that he was planning to file a lawsuit against the left-leaning cable news channel.
“I’m not suing MSNBC,” Rogan said, adding that his stepfather called him after seeing a headline about his apparent support for the vice president.
“But this is what MSNBC did: They took a video of me talking about Tulsi Gabbard and edited it and made it look like I was saying great things about Kamala Harris.”
Rogan said that MSNBC did not use artificial intelligence to make the video, but that the network “deceptively edited the things I was saying” and “took them completely out of context.”
He said MSNBC ran a compilation of two separate clips in which he is heard praising Gabbard and then noting that Harris could win the 2024 presidential election — making it sound like he was only talking about the Democratic nominee. .
Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party after serving as a lawmaker representing a district in Hawaii, has recently endorsed former President Donald Trump.
“I was talking about Tulsi Gabbard who was a congresswoman for eight years and how she served overseas. [as part of] two medical service deployments dealing with people who were blown up by war,” Rogan said, adding, “That’s not something Kamala Harris did. That’s something Tulsi Gabbard did.”
MSNBC “put it out there as a clip of me praising Kamala Harris,” he added.
“But they don’t care about the truth,” Rogan told MSNBC. “They just want a narrative to get out there among enough people, because most people are just superficial readers” who “read a headline” and say to themselves, “I got it now.”
The post has sought comment from MSNBC.
The video Rogan was referring to has been deleted by MSNBC, which added a disclaimer that said: “We have removed an earlier version of this post that mistakenly implied Joe Rogan was talking more about Vice President Kamala Harris. He was referring to Tulsi Gabbard.”
In an Aug. 2 post on social media platform X, Gabbard attacked MSNBC, calling it “a propaganda machine for the Democratic Elite” that “will shamelessly attempt to deceive the American people.”
Rogan has refused to endorse Trump and had praised Robert F. Kennedy’s independent bid for the White House, prompting supporters of the former president to criticize Rogan.
Kennedy endorsed Trump after dropping out of the presidential race last week.
